Gingerbread houses

Gingerbread house making can be a fun way to flex your creative muscles during the holidays. I’ve made two this season out of kits, and though I’ve finished each session with a stomachache from all the candy I ate in the construction process, I was left with two houses of adorable-ness. The best part was carrying them around campus. I kept getting stopped by people commenting on them and complimenting them. Gingerbread houses just cheer people up!

Lots and lots of photos after the break. The obviously amateur houses are the ones I made. The gorgeous ones are the ones that are currently on display in the 8th floor lobby of the Marriott Marquis in Times Square.

My favorite house was the penguin castle, complete with moat:

Check out the chef’s hat and the fresh bread and the fruit seller!

The detailing on these is amazing. Porch light, mailbox, tiny poinsettia!

Note the sugar window, the edible lace curtains, the wreath, and the cardinal.
